In plain words
TapeHeart collects the email you give us and the tapes you make, so we can deliver a mixtape to one person. We don't sell your information, and there are no public profiles. You can delete your account at any time.
02Information we collect
TapeHeart is made by Design For Hope LLC. This policy covers the TapeHeart app and the website at tapeheart.app.
If you join the waitlist, we collect the email address you enter. We use it to send one email when TapeHeart launches.
If you create an account, we collect the email address linked to it. When you make a tape, we store what you put on it: who it is for, the songs you chose and their order, the length of each side, the shell, label, and case you picked, and the words you write on the card and on individual songs.
If you write to us, we keep your message and the email address you used, so we can reply. If you ask us to delete your account, we keep that request until the deletion is finished.
We don't ask for your Apple ID password. We don't build public profiles, follower lists, or a feed.
03Apple Music data
TapeHeart uses Apple Music to search for songs and to play them. You need your own Apple Music subscription to make tapes and to hear songs in full. That subscription is between you and Apple.
For each song you add, we store the details needed to find it again in Apple Music, such as the song name, the artist, and Apple's identifier for that song. We don't store the audio file. Playback happens through Apple Music.
Some songs aren't available in every country. When that happens, the tracklist and your notes still show, and the unavailable song is marked. Nothing on the tape is changed quietly.
04How we use information
We use the information above to:
Run TapeHeart and keep the tapes you make. Deliver a tape to the person you send it to. Send the one waitlist email at launch, reply when you write to us, and email you to confirm a deletion request before anything is deleted. Protect the service against abuse.
We don't use your tapes or your notes to build an ad profile, and we don't sell personal information.
05Sharing
A tape is private. It is visible to you and to the person you give it to. When you send it, that person receives the songs, the order, the card, and the liner notes. They don't receive your account, and no one else gets a public page of your tapes.
Songs play through Apple Music, so Apple handles playback under Apple's own terms and privacy policy. We also use companies that host TapeHeart and send the emails described in this policy. They may process the information only to do that work for us.
We may share information if the law requires it, or to protect TapeHeart, our users, or someone else from harm. We don't sell personal information.
06Retention & deletion
We keep a waitlist email until we send the launch message, then we delete it. If you later create an account with the same address, the account is kept under the rules below.
We keep your account, your tapes, and your notes until you delete the account. You can do that in the app, or ask us from the website. We email you first to confirm it is really you. After that confirmation, we delete the account and profile within 30 days.
Tapes you have not given are deleted with your account. A tape you already gave stays with that person. We take it off your account, and they can still open the note, tracklist, and liner notes you gave them. Your Apple Music subscription is not affected.
We may keep a short record that a deletion was requested and completed, so we can show that we did it. To delete your account and data, see Account deletion.
07Your rights
You can ask us what personal information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Deleting the account is the way to remove the tapes and notes we store for you, except for a tape you already gave someone, as described above.
Email support@designforhope.co and we will respond. We may need to confirm it is you before we change or delete anything.
08Children
TapeHeart is not for children under 13. Don't make an account for a child under 13, or send us a child's personal information. If we learn that we have an account for a child under 13, we will delete it. If you are a parent and you believe we have your child's information, email support@designforhope.co.
09Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also say so on this page, or by email if we have an address for you. The version number changes when the text changes.
